Consular legalization of official documents is the procedure of confirming the authenticity of the originals of official documents or certifying the genuineness of signatures of authorized officials who are empowered to certify signatures on documents, as well as verifying the validity of stamps and seals affixed to the document.

At the same time, the consul does not bear responsibility for the content of the document.

Legalization carried out in the prescribed manner grants the document the right to be recognized and used in international circulation.

Which documents can I legalize at the Embassy of Ukraine in Iraq?

The Embassy of Ukraine in Iraq certifies documents issued in Ukraine, provided that such documents have been previously certified (legalized) by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Which documents are required for legalization?

1. Completed application form zayava-legalizatsiya.xls

2. The original document to be legalized

3. Original receipt for payment of the consular fee to the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI Bank) to account 0006-010212-002.

4. For individuals:

- Original passport of the applicant + copy of the passport;

- If submitting documents on behalf of another person, a notarized power of attorney from the document's owner is required. If the power of attorney is issued in Iraq, it must be translated to Ukrainian language and legalized by the Ministry of foreign affairs of Iraq.

5. For legal entities, in addition to the above:

- An official request letter on the organization’s letterhead (including full contact details and official seal), stating:

The list of documents to be legalized
The purpose of legalization
Information about the authorized representative handling the legalization process.

What are the processing time and consular fee?

Standard processing time: up to 10 business days

Consular fee:

- USD 50 for 1 documents issued in the name of an individual

- USD 100 for 1 documents issued in the name of a legal entity

In case of urgent processing (within 5 working days), the consular fee is charged at double the standard rate.

When can I submit documents for legalization?

The documents for legalization can be submitted during working hours of the consular section of the Embassy:

SUNDAY 12:00 - 16:00

MONDAY 10:00 - 14:00

TUESDAY 10:00 - 14:00

WEDNESDAY 10:00 - 14:00

THURSDAY 10:00 - 14:00

Do I need to register for consular receiption?

Consular services at the Embassy are provided by prior appointment, which must be made via the online registration form in the electronic queue system: https://e-consul.gov.ua/visits

❗ If authentication and/or electronic identification in the "e-Consul" system is not possible, you must:

Send an email to the official address of the Embassy at [email protected], including:

- a clear explanation of the issue,

- relevant supporting evidence (e.g., screenshots), and

- a request to schedule a visit without prior registration in the e-Queue.

❗ Collection of ready documents is carried out on consular working days, on a first-come, first-served basis.
