On April 26, 1986, an explosion broke out at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which shook the world. The Chornobyl tragedy and the elimination of its consequences are still a symbol of the selfless dedication of a person against any, even invisible, enemy.
Firefighters who were the first to extinguish the fire at the fourth unit of the Chernobyl NPP. Doctors who fought for the lives of those who received radiation sickness. Station staff, dosimeters, soldiers, scientists, builders. Liquidators who deserve the highest respect and gratitude.
But 34 years later, the aftermath of that horrific accident is still ongoing, and the Chornobyl zone is back in the spotlight. Fire sirens sound again, and rescuers selflessly fight for our safety. I wish to those who are struggling today with the elements in the area of alienation, strength and unwavering will.
Chornobyl has changed the lives of millions, and the consequences of the Chornobyl disaster will be with us for many centuries to come. But I want to believe that humanity has learned this lesson. Remember!
