Today, November 18, Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Iraq, Ivan Dovhanych.
The head of Iraq’s foreign ministry welcomed the Ukrainian Ambassador to Baghdad and wished him success in strengthening bilateral relations. Ivan Dovhanych emphasized Ukraine’s interest in developing cooperation across all sectors and expressed hope that his previous experience working in Iraq (2006–2008) would contribute to elevating bilateral cooperation to a new qualitative level.
The Ukrainian Ambassador noted that November 19 will mark the 1,000th day of Ukraine's heroic resistance against Russia's full-scale aggression. "We are enduring a difficult and imposed war, where Ukraine is demonstrating a unique ability to stand against the aggressor. Ukrainians, more than anyone, long for peace, but a just and lasting peace, which cannot be achieved by appeasing the aggressor. Peace must be based on international law, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state," he stated.
During the meeting, both parties discussed promising areas of cooperation, including trade, education, digitalization, and agriculture.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Fuad Hussein, wished Ambassador Ivan Dovhanych success in his diplomatic mission and professional achievements for the benefit of both nations' friendship.
