Today, on November 24, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid, received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Iraq, Ivan Dovhanych.
The Head of the Iraqi State welcomed the Ambassador of Ukraine to Baghdad and wished him success in strengthening bilateral relations.
Ambassador Dovhanych noted the impressive progress Iraq has demonstrated since his previous diplomatic mission in 2006–2008. He expressed confidence that, with sustained internal stability and in the absence of external threats, Iraq has all the potential to become one of the most prosperous countries in the region and the world.
The ongoing war waged by Russia against Ukraine was discussed. Ambassador Dovhanych emphasized that Russia’s aggression can only be stopped through decisive action by the entire international community by implementing President Zelensky's Peace Formula.
President Rashid underscored that Iraq, as a founding member of the United Nations, consistently advocates for the peaceful resolution of international conflicts.
The parties also discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation. President Abdul Latif Rashid wished Ambassador Ivan Dovhanych professional success in his diplomatic mission and new achievements for the benefit of both friendly nations and their peoples.
