On 14 January 2026, a meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Iraq, Ivan Dovhanych, and the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq, Qasim Mohammad Jalal Al-Araji.

During the constructive talks, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation, reaffirming the high level of trust and mutual support between Ukraine and Iraq. Particular attention was paid to specific practical aspects of bilateral interaction in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine.

The interlocutors also highly appreciated the positive trends in trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Despite the challenges caused by the war, trade turnover between Ukraine and Iraq continues to demonstrate steady growth, reflecting a mutual interest in deepening economic cooperation.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and confirmed the shared commitment of both states to the further development of bilateral relations.
