Currently, Ukraine has a State Targeted Economic Program for Energy Efficiency and Development of Energy Production from Renewable Energy Sources and Alternative Fuels. Within the framework of this program, since October 2014, a mechanism has been implemented to encourage the population to implement energy efficiency measures by repaying part of the body of loans taken for the purchase of energy efficient equipment and / or materials.

During the period of the Energy Efficiency Program from 2014 to 2021, more than 864 thousand families took advantage of loans for the purchase of energy efficient equipment and / or materials and attracted almost UAH 9.0 billion in loans.

The estimated annual savings of natural gas as a result of the Energy Efficiency Program are about 485 million m3 of gas (extrapolation of the results of the National Program Efficiency Study conducted in 2016 with the support of USAID and IFC projects).

In total, in 2015-2021, more than 200,000 borrowers took advantage of local loan reduction programs for individuals and legal entities and received additional compensation in the amount of about UAH 550 million.
